Through reviews of millions of users, Booking.com has also detailed a variety of tourist destinations with the best culinary, the most sought after traveler. In the Southeast Asian region for example, regional delicacies like din sum, noodles and pho are still widely reviewed by travelers. However, around 57 percent of Asian travelers confirm that they are looking for new dishes to try when traveling.

Most Wanted Destinations
According to Booking.com there are about 11 local Asian tourist destinations that are mostly reviewed for culinary delights, including Ipoh Malaysia, Kaohsiung Taiwan, Nagoya Japan, Johor Bahru Malaysia, Joao Pessoa Brasil, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam, Sarajevo Bosnia Herzegovina, Colmar France, Lima Peru, Catania Italy and Belgrade Serbia.
Meanwhile, around 51 percent of global tourists tend to look for street food markets, which is indeed the best way to try local food directly. While 54 percent of Booking.com users would like to feel the sensation of culinary tourism by visiting a food truck. For street food, the five most searched areas are Jeonju South Korea, Hsinchu City Taiwan, Marrakech Morocco, New York City, Mexico City. Whereas the top food truck destinations are still held by Portland United States, Sao Paulo Brazil, Seoul South Korea, Bangkok Thailand, and Istanbul Turkey.

Culinary indeed has an important role for the traveler in choosing travel, especially in the overall tourist experience.
“Trying local food or street food is the best way for tourists to feel the true local culture, and immerse themselves in local culture, so that they get a different travel experience,” Pepijn said.
